SECONDARY PHENOMENA

Due to the unusual construction and functionality
of Platytera, a second tier of phenomena resides
within the work that reveals multiple perspectives
on symmetry, reflection, texture, and architectural
deconstruction. The following pages give examples
of each during various solar and atmospheric
conditions. All photos and videos are untouched.

A transparent ultramarine blue filter can be automatically lowered between the aperture and the sky creating a luminescent ultramarine blue monochrome on the surface of the wall. Additionally, a neutral density filter can be lowered to add depth to the blue or used individually to reduce the sky’s brightness as needed.

The fluid positioning of these filters allows the viewer to participate in the evolving composition and secondary phenomena of the work by creating various arrangments of light, color, and geometric abstraction.

These results can be difficult to capture often causing unusual effects inside the camera, as seen in some of the pictures that follow. All photos and video are untouched.
